Job Description

The Structural Fabrication Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily operations in the structural steel fabrication shop or site. This includes overseeing fabrication of steel components, ensuring work is carried out as per drawings and specifications, maintaining quality and safety standards, and supporting timely delivery of project milestones.



Supervision & Coordination
Supervise and lead a team of fabricators, welders, fitters, and helpers.
Allocate daily tasks based on project requirements and fabrication schedules.
Interpret and implement engineering drawings and specifications.
Monitor fabrication progress and ensure timely completion of work.
Quality Control
Inspect fabricated items to ensure compliance with design specifications and tolerances.
Coordinate with QA/QC inspectors for weld testing and dimensional inspections.
Identify and correct any fabrication errors or non-conformities.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce company and site-specific HSE policies.
Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safe work practices.
Conduct toolbox talks and daily safety briefings.
Technical Responsibilities
Read and understand structural and fabrication drawings (e.g., GA, shop drawings).
Provide technical support to team members for layout, cutting, welding, and assembly.
Ensure proper usage and maintenance of fabrication tools and machinery (e.g., CNC, oxy-acetylene, MIG/TIG welders, grinders, etc.).
Resource Management
Request materials, consumables, and tools in advance to prevent delays.
Monitor and control wastage of materials and consumables.
Ensure efficient use of manpower to meet deadlines and reduce downtime.
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain daily reports of manpower deployment, work progress, and productivity.
Record fabrication progress, material consumption, and tool usage.
Report any delays, issues, or resource needs to the Project/Fabrication Manager.
Team Development
Train junior staff and ensure team competency in fabrication standards.
Foster a team-oriented environment and resolve conflicts among workers.
Coordination & Communication
Liaise with engineers, site supervisors, and other departments.
Attend project coordination meetings when required.
Communicate project needs, updates, and risks effectively.
