Job Description
The Manager, Piping, is responsible for directing all piping-related operations for Zone A, whether for rigs or vessels or other internal work in the yard.
Supervises all related piping activities in workshop and/or onboard and ensures that related works are carried out safely, on time and on budget in accordance with the project contractual obligations and Client's Management System.
The role involves working closely with the GM Production, Production Manager, Project Managers, and the Production teams or other internal departments as required to ensure that all assigned scopes are executed as being described above.
Ensures production line efficiency and proper housekeeping whether in workshop or onboard and when required prepares cost estimates for production/projects.
This role requires close and effective collaboration with other departments, communicating results and concerns to higher management, working under pressure, and driving a team to safely complete tasks against aggressive timelines and work scopes.
Solution orientation and doing it right the first-time mindset is a must, with a proactive approach of solving issues before they become problems.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensure that all piping-related activities are meticulously planned, and that the plans and responsibilities are clearly communicated and understood by all relevant piping personnel.
Develop comprehensive project/production plans, including detailed schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
Provide sound and good knowledge on various types of piping on vessels, and rigs.
Ensure all repair and maintenance work meet the required quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Lead and manage piping repair teams, including tradespeople, technicians, and subcontractors.
Ensure, in conjunction with the Procurement Supply Chain Group, that all materials and equipment are procured and delivered in accordance with the production and project’s contract requirements.
Ensure effective and consistent interaction with other disciplines, management and supervision as required.
Monitor actual man-hours against budgeted man-hours and take appropriate steps to correct overruns and develop and manage project budgets, including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
Control the overtime to contribute to the best projects and gross margins.
Ensure that all production/project materials are used as defined in procedures and manufacturer’s recommendations.
Ensure that all installation, maintenance and commissioning activities for the piping and other related systems are carried out in accordance with the approved procedures.
Liaise with the engineering department regarding the project’s piping activities. Liaise with other trades to ensure project schedule adherence.
Strong involvement in daily/weekly progress reporting and is responsible for ensuring that supervision gather accurate physical progress.
Fully responsible for delivery of all Inspection Test Records (ITR’s) under the relevant discipline by effectively delegating them to the team. This must be approached with a high focus on interfacing and coordination with all other discipline supervision to remove all blocks from achieving target dates.
Provide feedback for bid preparations, whether for feasibility and tendering and/or change of scope.
Provide information to Planning Department to prepare a weekly workload forecast based on materials, equipment and manpower availability.
Visit project work regularly whether in workshops, onboard, in docks, or other open areas where related activities are taking place to check progress and give technical advice and guidance. Ensure all control measures are in place for safety, environmental aspects and housekeeping.
Prepare department budgets and make proposals towards management regarding processes optimization and CAPEX, OPEX, and the manpower planning for the continual improvement of productivity and efficiency.
Ensure that the level of competence in the Piping Department meets the client’s requirements.
Facilitate raining and development of personnel.
Facilitate acquisition of relevant certifications for specialized works as per client’s strategy.
Manage and direct relevant subcontractors to ensure that all contract obligations are met.
Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency enhancement in pipe production operations. Implement best practices, new technologies, and innovative solutions to drive continuous improvement and increase productivity.
Develop productivity norms related to structural works and measure the actual performance vs norms for the sake of continuous productivity improvement by setting new improved targets every time.
Perform other related duties as per management direction.

Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)
Marine-related professional qualifications or relevant time served.
